Is there any validity to this hateful comment (Jews-Midwood)

"Go back to Russia, have you Jews forgotten that Russia is 3x the size of the U.S? There�s tons of Billionaires and Millionaires in Russia now, so why are you all here milking the Americans? You took ALL of the Section 8 Housing vouchers so that we Americans don�t have any at all".

What is the number of frum Jews in New York, and what is the number of frum Jews getting section 8 in New York? Does anyone know? Is there a higher percentage of religious Jews getting section 8, than other religious groups? I ask about frum Jews, because theyre very noticably Jewish, when they stand on lines in government offices. Also, honestly, everyone needs Mazel, but with lack of education, a form of Hishtadlus, dont very frum Jews have children with reliance on programs? This is an issue that makes many frum Jewish kids go off the derech as well.

Since you ask, no, there is no validity to this hateful comment. There happen to be a lot of Jews living in NYC. Jews, as you say, are more visible. I assure you that Jews did not take ALL the housing vouchers in New York. Also, Jews are as American as the Italian-American, Irish-American or Greek-American making this comment.

I can't see the original article. But what you're quoting doesn't say anything about frum Jews. It sounds like the person is talking about either all Jews, or Russian Jews specifically.

I don't know why you'd assume that whoever said something so hateful (telling American citizens "go back to Russia," etc) must have been basing it on something as concrete as seeing visibly Jewish people getting government help. It seems entirely possible that they assume that (Russian) Jews are taking all the housing for no reason whatsoever. But again, I didn't read the article.

That's funny. In Russia they told us to go back to Palestine. Now in America they're telling us to go back to Russia. And Helen Thomas thinks those of us in Israel should go back to Poland and Germany.

Where exactly should we go so everyone will be happy?

the only people in america who have any sort of right to tell people to go back anywhere are native americans.

I love it when people tell me to go back where I came from. I say "Great! Please give me enough tickets to Israel for my family, and a lift for all my belongings. We'll be on the next flight out."

They say "But you're not Israeli." and I tell them "No, but I have inherited land over there!" Razz

No one took anyone's vouchers. There was a tiny window of time when vouchers were given out, so whoever applied then was able to get. Period. whoever missed that time frame lost out. They didnt lose out on their vouchers because someone else got it. Just like no one takes away their food stamps or medicaid because they get food stamps or medicaid. If someone loses their voucher now because their apartment failed inspection, that guy won't get it either. Stam anti semitism.

Go back to russia? Heck, we werent wanted there either! just goes to show us we arent wanted anywehre. we're in golus.
