Do you mind not posting these links? One of the reasons I stopped going to sites like Yeshiva World is because I don't want to know about every tragedy that happens.
Whoever is interested can check out Yeshiva world themselves.

not everyone checks yeshiva world or other jewish news sites. you saw from the title of the thread what it was about, so if you dont want to read the link you dont have to. I think the point is a VERY important one though. most of us are guilty of leaving our child(ren) in the tub unattended, even if just for a few seconds. the point is, even THAT is unsafe....this tragedy should serve as a reminder for all of us.

(the family should find their nechama VERY soon)

I agree. It is really beginning to irritate me that the OP continuously posts links without any comments. It feels like spamming.

Well, that's the point. suo (and many other posters) are not interested in hearing about every tragedy, even without details. People who are interested should visit these news sites.

Many people don't check those sites for this very reason!

Also, I think you missed the point which is that the OP posts link after link like this. It's not a once off warning about a bath-tub. It's like a tragedy news announcer.

Anyway - isn't there something (pirkei avos maybe?) about not making a point to be the one bringing bad news?

So block her posts. Or skip them.

Lots of people post things I'm not interested in, and I just move on.

I dont check those sites because im interested in hearing about every tragedy. I check because I am interested in knowing the news. unfortunately, tragedies are part of the news, and these days an even bigger part, it seems. I totally get the not wanting to know, but unfortunately the only way to do that is to live in a bubble.

I don't click on the links. The headlines are bad enough.
I believe that one of the of the reasons there are supposedly so many more tragedies than there used to be is because in the past everyone didn't hear about everything that happened all over the world.

As to the importance of this particular story, I happened to have posted here, but I'm referring to all the links posted recently, most of which your point doesn't apply to.

Thank goodness I move past most of the posts on this site or I'd waste even more time around here! But as I said before, the OP has a pattern of opening threads with dramatic titles and then just posting a link. It feels like spamming.

I apologize for my ignorance, but what does knowing about tragedies have to do with more occuring?
as I dont spend a ton of time here, I dont always see everything, so im not quite sure what youre refering to, so I will have to take your word for it.

I don't think there's any way to avoid seeing the subject, which is the problem here.

I for one am interested. Please skip if you are not. For some reason, I cannot open the site; but I check with DH and he usually fills me in. He hears the news at Shul. I personally am appalled by how preventable and avoidable these tragedies are. It does not mean I want to be ignorant about them.

It is sad that there are so many tragedies out there but I also feel that the op of this thread has opened a few threads (unfortuantely it has been so many tragedies) but she wrote the title, and posted a link and thats it. If she was going to write her feelings on it fine but to just direct people to the site, well people who visit the site will see it.

I agree. The point of imamother is not to list the topics on another site, even if it's a news site. If people want to read the news they can go to that site or another one. It would be like someone starting threads called something like (lehavdil to tragic stories) Luscious Lemon Cake with a link to a recipe site, then another thread Creamy Chocolate Cake with a link to the same site. If you want to post a news item (and I agree that it's not the point here unless you have a point to make, which might be true for this story but not for others), at least summarize what happened in your post.

I also heard (don't think it's from Pirkei Avos) that it's not recommended to be the one to tell others bad news.

At least these items are of frum interest. BH people seem to have stopped posting titles with only scoops/gossip nothing to do with the Jewish world.

I think I'd rather read about non-Jewish celebrities than Jewish tragedies. But I do hear your point.

But isn't that precisely the point of Jewish tragedies? Hashem wants to stir our souls. So if we choose to read about celebs verses hearing about Jewish tragedies and agonizing over them, who knows what blows He will have to send our way to stir us?

Kol yisroel areivim. Your troubles are mine, and I feel with you, Yisroel. I wish I can comfort every broken heart out there. At least I have them in my prayers.
