Anyone else not get their food stamps in NJ this month?

I always get it on the first, unless there is a problem with certification etc. Today is the second and it still hasn't shown up. Do I Shlep down to my case worker (a 2 hour trip) or give it more time? Of course noone picks up the phone there.

ARGHHH! Just spent 3 hours in the food stamps office, just to be told that they are behind on cases and they dont know when it will go through. What a ridiculous program. Dont they understand that the people on it dont have the money to lay out until they "backdate" the funds.
Wish there was a higher-up I could call. We really need the money for food.

I b"h have a large family and can't spend so much on food until I get it.
this is the 2nd time it happened to me it also happened last year when I re-certified.

Yes, I had this last year too.
I had a phone interview mid-September, and Oct 1 it renewed, so I assumed that it went through. Now I found out that they were so behind on the rectification, that they issued the Oct money anyways. No word on Nov money , though.
Since when are you waiting? Thinking of calling the mayor here its ridiculous to make people that have no money for food wait 3 months every year for certifications!

Happened to me in Pa. Didnt get food stamps Sep or Oct-yomtov time. Now they gave me all 3 months worth. Nice, but I cant use it to pay my mortgage with! That money was spent on food.

Wow so it took you 3 months to get it? Thats crazy. Wish there was something I can do to get it earlier.. Any ideas?

I'm in NY but I had this issue once and I called the supervisor. Turned out my caseworker was out on medical leave too. The supervisor gave it to someone else and it was resolved in 2 days. I keep the supervisor's number handy now... Very Happy

OP here;
The office is so difficult to contact, I highly doubt I would ever get through to a supervisor. My case worker is basically useless. I saw she couldn't care less, and was not going to process my case any quicker because I came down. I asked for a supervisor while I was there, and they made it seem like there was none. I didnt want to make a Chilul Hashem since they obviously know I am Frum..
