I thought mikasa went bust? or was that wedgewood??
either way I love their china dinner sets but never seen their drinking glasses

I did too, then I started seeing Mikasa stuff in discount stores, like Amazing Savings. It turns out that their former parent, a French company, closed all the US stores, then sold the brand to a company known as Lifetime Brands, which also owns (or licenses the names of ) Pfaltzgraf, Towle, Kitchenaid, and a bunch of other brands.

| I prefer double old fashioned glasses to goblets, as I at least feel as if they're sturdier and steadier.

| discount stuff is just overstocks. you won't be be to buy more glasses when you need them.

I have the Miksasa park lane glasses for Shabbos, and I have been able to get replacements (at my local discount store) for quite a number of years.

| we got two sets of 'celebrations' stemware by mikasa for a wedding gift. they are gorgeous!! the pattern is very elegant and the glasses are sturdy too. they set a really nice table and we are very happy with them. btw, we have them three yrs and havent 'lost' one yet

I like the second set better but if your treating yourself, why not go with stemware? the ones I have are similar to the arctic lights modern or country manor. in the end, choose what you really like though
