No way! We love the pickled flavor. And don't like diluting it.

Wash roast very well. Place in snug pot. Add water 3/4 up.
Bring to a boil. Lower heat and cook for about 2 hours. (30 minutes per lb.)

Allow roast to cool in pot with cooking water. Reserve cooking liquid in container. Refrigerate roast. Once completely cold, slice.
Double wrap slices and freeze. Freeze liquid in container separately.
Defrost before meal. Reheat in liquid.

oy, I wish I would've seen your post b4 I cooked it. it would've made things much easier. someone convinced me that it is much too salty if I don't and now I need to make a sauce for it. my sister said there might be one in the bobov cookbook, but if anyone has something good, I would really appreciate it!

I have a really great delicious sauce for pickled roast:

1 cup brown sugar
1 cup ketchup
6 tbsp vinegar
2 tbsp oil
2 tbsp mustard

Cook all ingredients together. Pour over roast.

sounds good but I was looking for something with less ketchup, someone told me they made something with mostly duck sauce, does anyone have a recipe for something like that?

You can thin apricot jam with a little water, place the meat slices in the sauce, and then put the whole pan in the fridge.

Reheat in sauce.

Yes, I enjoy it when I'm there.

(Interestingly enough, she boils it twice. Smile )

I have never made that one, but I know that there are pastrami roasts sold in sealed bags that are meant to be cooked in their bag.

How did it turn out?
