Hi everyone,
Does anyone know of any website or store or ideas to decorate a sukkah in a less "traditional-paper-chains-and-glittery-fruit-hanging" way and more modern, or shabby chic or just... you know.. cool, way? Oh, and.... ON A BUDGET =) Id looooove to hear your ideas on how to create an enjoyable atmosphere in your sukkah. Either lighting, or creative table centerpeices or wall hangings.... and where to go for such ideas. Thanks!

Well my kids have made some cute things in the past, and we put them up every year. I have laminated some of their pictures and even though they are now in their 20's and some are married, they love to see their oold artwork.

You can do painting on material - men dancing or 7 minim, or a bruchim habaim sign.

That lasts years . So does fimo designs. One year my sil made us little fimo models of sukka related things which we strung across the sukka.

As they got older my kids designs became more sophisticated - especially the artistic child's (she is now studying architecture) and these now decorate the sukka. We hardly have any tinsel stuff

Last year I came across wall mounted vases in CB2. I bought five of those and put a fresh Gerbera daisy in each and decorated one wall with that. It was really pretty.

Here is the link to the page; scroll down to see the teardrop-shaped vase and the beaker vase.

Or you can buy the hanging vases and hang from the ceiling. I believe the Succos edition of last year's Mishpacha had an idea using the teardrop diamond hanging vase.

The boys put up the succa last night except for the scahch. I have to admit, it does look a bit shabby. Is that chic now? Great! Thanks. I feel so much more like I'm keeping up w. the Cohens now.

Have an easy fast & a simchadic Succot!

Thanks everyone! Hila, sounds like you have created a beautiful tradition, and family- over the years! May you have much nachas from the architect and all the rest! Very Happy

Maya, this is exactly along the lines of what I was hoping for- thank you! How did you mount wall vases on your sukkah? I guess it depends on if you have wooden walls, tarps, or whatever...

And this Fashion-Isha is quite a trip! I love the site (I barely glanced at it) but it looks awesome! Thanks for sharing!

Well, I guess I am happy to be "keeping up with the Kohens" because this is the first year I am ever having a sukkah of my own and we really feel blessed. But really its more about making the space more enjoyable to be in and celebrate it, and give it a personal touch. My way of hidur mitzvah!

We have wooden walls so we mounted it with a nail.
