Thank you to everyone who took the time to help me out!
One question: I would like to see the Scenera manual before buying, just to see exactly how the seatbelt installation works, but I can't seem to find it online. Does anyone know where to look? The Cosco site seems to have it but it needs a manufacture date for the carseat (which I obviously can't provide, seeing as I don't have a carseat yet).
And runninglate, you've made me curious. How old is your daughter?

My 18 month old weighed in at 19.5 lbs. She has LOTS of meat on her (we're not 100% sure the weight is accurate as she was very upset her shoes were taken off).
I would not be chalishing for your baby to weigh more. There is nothing wrong with that weight.

I didn't buy the carseat yet. I was a bit troubled by the line in the instruction manual (page 25 on the link that Hashem_Yaazor sent) that says: "To use rear-facing, the child restraint MUST be fully reclined." Does that mean that I don't gain anything by buying this seat, since my baby will have to be reclined anyway? Will she still need to be reclined at 2+ years, as long as she's rear facing? YourTypicalYoungMother, you say that you use the seat. Can you weigh in?
Thanks.

No, I think you're misunderstanding it. It's not as reclined as an infant seat. Perhaps speaking to the wise women at car-seat.org about your questions installing it (RF and FF) will help you decide if it will work for you. They're experts

| New mother-seeking-carseat here. How's the padding on the Cosco Scenera? Is it nice and comfy for the kid? Does it have side padding to protect from a side impact C"V? Do kids get really shvitzy in it?

It's not a well-padded seat. It's a budget seat and great as a backup/secondary seat or if you can't afford more.
If it's going to be getting a lot of use on a daily basis, be used for long road trips often, etc I'd get a more padded one (my personal experience is based on kids kvetching when stuck in budget seats vs more padded ones).

It's a pretty good seat. I have had issues with installing it in the Toyota Sienna rearfacing, but not in other vehicles.
Some don't like it forward facing because it's pretty reclined even like that.
The seat itself is pretty nice, and has great weight and height limits.
