When you go away for shabbos do you light the same # of candles as usual? if I light 8 candles usually do I need to also light 8 at our host or can I just light two?

I learned that one does not decrease in kedusha, only increase.

I was also taught you light two away from home. Only what is din, not additions.

I studied the halachas of this and it was two away from home (not that you can't light more but it is not considered a lessening of kedusha) and I bring my own candles because technically they are supposed to be your own (although of course, someone can give it to you and it is yours anyways)

We actually asked a noted posek about this issue. He said to follow whatever my mother does. She lights two when away from home, so that is what I do.

Bidieved 2 is enough. If you can light your usual amount, you should, though.

My mother asked her Rav and was told to light 2 candles when she goes away, except to her parents or inlaws. In their houses she lights her regular amount.

I only light two when I'm away, even by my parents and in-laws.
