| |
My Sweet DD won't keep her clothes on or let me do her hair anymore.
She walks around looking like that mowgli the kid from the Disney movie "the jungle book " wearing only a pull up.
The worse part is her comming to the door looking like this or fully naked ,If I'm holding the new born I wonder if people think ...I'm now too tired to dress her
I need tips ,this is so embarrasing
Thanx
PS plus all her cute clothes sit there ....so sad _________________

My 2 yr old DD is the exact same way. Except she takes off her diaper also. Today I left the house And only realized once we were in the car that she took off her diaper and put her diaper cover back on with no diaper under it.
Hoping to see if anyone has any advice.

Nice to know this is normal (older DD never did this)
I don't want to make a big deal of it ..but today she hit her head on the floor while fighting the shirt I had put on her just a seccond before. I was VERY frustrated (bad sleep) so I had to go into "teacher mode" as in "you would not potch someone elses kid for this " but it was close ....
most embarrasing moment to date came on Shabbat when one of DS friends who is 13 y/o and has no sisters saw her streaking and doing somersaults on the lawn.
Poor boy he looked freaked out and told ds "I never knew what girls looked like' after getting an eyefull of DD's "licence plate"
I was worried his mum was going to call me and give me tznius mussar ....no angry calls so far B"H.

I dont know if its the right term, but has she got a tactile sensitivity?
or is she just at the 'davka' stage?

My DD just likes to "change outfits" all day. Like I will put a dress on her, leave the room and when I come back she took off the dress and is middle of trying to put "pretty skirt " on instead lol
But she does take off her diaper the minute she wets it. Think its time to start toilet training!

Just so you know, its way more embarrassing when the streaking child is a boy, and his 16 year old sister has ten freinds over..... My brother did it regularly, till he was at least 7. No one really expects a 2 year old to behave much better, and she is pretty normal sounding to me, Most two year olds have no issue with nakedness.
It can sometimes be an OT sensory thing, like if the materiel bothers her or something like that.

I don't think it is a sensitivity issue ...
this meshugas started during a really hot humid day when the AC died just 2 weeks ago ,before this I was dealing with her being obsessed with wearing anything with hello kitty and a scratchy princess costume from purim.
She has discovered the wonders of nudity and freedom, I just feel selfconcious having her running around with sticks like a lord of the flies extra (dh's opinion ) ! she also loves naked trampoline jumping ....
This too shall pass (soon I hope).
I wish more mums who have dealt with this would respond too (sigh!)
The thought of dealing with this the whole summer is daunting ....I'm afraid my patience has decreased due to interrupted sleep with my now 5 week old dd ,she fights tooth and nail at the sight of clothing ,she is still a baby and I fear losing it and being harsh.
Thanx for all the replies please keep them comming

My dd does this sometimes when we are changing to pjs or after a bath. It's really a developmental stage and perfectly normal, albeit can be somewhat embarrassing if you let it get to you.

| my kids loved taking off all of their clothes at that age. My dd still loves to do that. I had to laugh at the mowgli reference. I have a nephew that me and my dh refer to as tarzan (and such an adorable one!!!!)because he loved getting naked.

dd 2 also went through a stage like this.
she insisted on taking her nap with only a diaper on and would then refuse to put her clothes on.
I don't know, I didn't have such a problem with it. ppl understand little kids... yeh it was a bit embarrassing to open the door with a naked child (in a diaper), I didn't want people to think I was neglecting her. but I would just smile and make some joke about my free spirited child...
if it's hot and she's at home, I wouldn't make a big deal.
dd knew that to go out we get dressed! and she would get dressed in the morning.
it was probably the most embarrassing when all of a sudden I had two naked children running around the shabbos table with guests over. but even then, they just smiled and laughed it off, their kids were toddlers once too.
I don't know what age you start keeping halachos of tznius with your daughters, but iy'h we'll start at three. so we have started to introduce the idea. so even though dd isn't yet even 2 1/2 she knows now that it's not tznius for other ppl to see her 'private area', and that she can't walk in public without her clothes on.
maybe you can start to introduce some of those ideas.

Maybe pick your battles, ie: at home/in the backyard let her just wear the diaper, and save the fighting for when she's going to be in public, or you're having guests over. If she's 2, she ought to be old enough for some rules.
If she won't let you do her hair, get it cut short so that it's less of a problem. _________________ http://crunchyandkosher.blogspot.com/

DD undresses herself only when she's in PJs and in bed; the rest of the day she's too busy to do it.
So even though she's over 2, I have a pack of short sleeve body suits from Carters and yoga pants from Old Navy (the waist is narrow, so she can't get them over her hips) and this way she can't undress herself.
She doesn't like to sit still for me to brush her hair either and she has really curly hair. So I keep it cut really short (to my family's dismay -- but she looks like a wild child with it longer, no matter how often I brush it or wet it so the curls can re-curl).
Even if those options aren't ideal, you may have to suffer through it until she learns that she can't behave that way.
(I don't know what I'm going to do when DD grows out of the bodysuits. I don't think Carters makes them bigger than 24 months and I HATE onesies with feet on them for kids her size.)

| Totally normal. My neighbor's daughter went through it last year. Their daughter is very strong-willed, so they knew if they fought her on it, it wouldn't help and would probably make things worse. So they let her walk around naked all she wanted - in their house and when men other than her father weren't there. If she wanted to go outside the apartment, she had to get dressed - it was her choice. She usually managed to get her naked enjoyment out while inside. Don't make too big a deal out of it, because it really is normal and will most likely go away on its own.

a lot of my kids went through this stage - I used to put their clothes on backwards so they couldn't unfasten it. _________________ Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional. (I haven't finished growing up yet; I'm still a work in progress - until 120!)
