| For those of you who are leaving their oven on for Yom Tov - I was just wondering what temperature you are leaving it on? Also, how are you handling heating up milchigs and Fleishigs?

| normally at 250 but this y't is very rushed and I"m gonna have to do a lot of cooking (baking food) on y't so I'll leave it on 325 probably. Dunno what I'm doing with milchigs yet.

We adjust our temperature on yom tov, so its not a problem. We'll leave it low (like 250) until we need it. _________________ Never mistake activity for achievement.

| saw, that's probably because you have an older oven. The newer ones are digital and you have to turn it off and then on with a button to change temp.

| I'm greatful to have an old fashioned non electric oven that has a pilot so I can adjust it on yom tov. If I had an electric oven I would probably leave it at 250 since I generally cook everything before yom tov and the oven lets off so much heat I wouldn't want to leave it above 300 for so long. My oven is fleishigs so I'll be heating up all my milchigs covered or on the blech.

We do have an old oven, but many rabbonim allow you to change the temperature on yom tov with new electric ovens. Anyway, not the point of this thread

Our newer oven has Shabbat Mode, so the electronics don't register on the display when changed. And we do change the temperature, but leave it on 225 most of the time.
BTW, for those who have a pilot light, AFAIK, the only benefit is that you could say you're lighting from an existing flame if you turn it on. I don't have one, so I don't know if that's legit or not. _________________ Life is scary. Wear pantyhose.

| I don't have that kind of oven anymore but when I did, I kept it on a timer at the lowest setting. worked GREAT.

| I'll probably leave my milchig oven on at about 325. And just leave a burner on my fleishig oven.

I usually leave my oven at 225 and just re-heat already cooked food.
And I leave one pilot light on with no company and two on with lotsa company and lots of cooking to do.

I leave mine on 350. I once left my oven at 250 because everything was cooked and just needed to be warmed. because I couldnt warm anything up till I lit candles, when it came to serving the food was still congieled (sorry for bad spelling).
since then I always leave it on 350.
I may be wrong but it's on a thermostat, meaning once it's heated it's using the same amount of gas to keep it warm as it would if it was on a lower temp. so once it goes 10 (making this number up) degrees below the required temp the gas heats the oven up those 10 degrees.
as for heating the kitchen, I dont usually feel the heat from my oven unless I'm spending hours in my kitchen so I dont see this as an issue.

| I leave the oven on 225 and its fine for pre cooked food. and to warm up home made challos. also I cover the milchig stuff with foil so its not a problem to warm it in f. oven. but I think ill have to open m. gas for some m. frying. and the f. gas stays on for entire YT
