| My friend's daughter will be having her bat mitzvah and I'd like to get her something Jewish but somehow connected with her love of vintage clothing and textiles. She has been learning about the tapestries of the Mishkan so there is also that connection there..... I would spend maybe $36..... any ideas?

Are you in nyc?
The nyt profiled a family fabric business in manhattan (3 generations), that specializes in vintage fabrics. (Back to the 40s and 50s). Maybe you could get a gift certificate?

| OP here. I'm not in NY. Anything online? Thrift stores are a cute idea but doesn't seem quite appropriate as a bat mitzvah gift even though she would probably love it...

I don't know if this is within your price range or not, but this site has adorable charm bracelets (and you can buy very cheap to very expensive). Perhaps they have a charm of a dress, a sewing machine, etc., and you can make her a 14-kt gold or sterling silver charm bracelet and she can continually add charms:

(Btw, overstock.com has beautiful necklaces for girls and I just got one in a fun shape for a Bat Mitzvah. The girl was really into dancing so I found a diamond pendant necklace in the shape of ballet slippers--usually $100, but I got it for $40. If you go to o.co vs overstock.com you get free shipping vs the $3.99 rate. Don't know why, but that's their gimmick.)
