Dear Sister...

I wrote this poem as a girl, when our parents' nasty divorce split the two of us apart. I don't have the exact text in front of me, but every time I'd think of her, I'd read it, and cry my heart out. So by now I should remember it in my dreams.

Sister.
Just a word.
A mere combo
Of a few letters.
Denoted as
Female sibling.
To the common,
another word
the dictionary hosts.
But to me-
Sister means everything.
My sister.
My world.
My life.
Me.
Her happiness-
Music to my ears.
Her pain-
Daggers to my heart.
My thoughts
Are composed of
Thoughts and images
Of her
And her loved ones.
But what are her thoughts
Composed of???
Oh,
How I miss
Those times
When we'd walk,
Together,
Hands interlocked...
As our toes
Brushed carelessly
Against the sand.
Our pains
Would dissipate,
And our fears
Cast deep
Into the vast ocean.
But then,
A monstrous wave
Hit upon us,
And we were thrust
Mercilessly
Into its raging waters.
My heart
Needed hers,
Now,
More than ever
Before.
Through the menacing waves,
I searched for her.
Through the billowing winds,
I called for her.
Yet,
Only a cold,
Distant echo
Was heard in the stillness,
As my yearning call
Went unanswered.
And then,
I caught a glimpse
Of her,
Struggling valiantly
Against the waves.
I extended
My hand to her,
Sanguine
That hers
Will be extended
In return.
But,
My hopes plummeted,
As my hand
Remained
Outstreched.
A lone tear
Escaped my eye,
As I spied
One tear
Escaping
Hers.
Oh,
How I long
For the day
When our tears
Will mingle.
Tears of joy,
Of newfound,
Boundless,
Mutual
Love.

That's a great poem. It really expresses your emotions and makes the reader understand what you went through. I hope you are soon reunited with your sister and live a long happy life together with her.
