OP again. I did mention in the beginning that my continuing with law school is not a given at this point, though I find that to be a separate discussion and that decision involves some other factors that I have not mentioned. I am at a top 25 school, so nothing to sneeze at, though I still don't expect fantastic job prospects- I know third years at my school who have nothing lined up right now. DH and I are going to have to look at our options and map out a plan. I will definitely bring up some of the suggestions here.

I worked part time during my 2nd and 3rd years. As far as I know, what Barbara said is correct, you cannot work more than 20 hours in your 2nd & 3rd year. You cannot work at all in your first year maybe, but the rules are different for 2L & 3L.

Other options might be:

1. transferring to a part time program so you can work during the other hours.

2. transferring to a lower tier school that might give you a scholarship based on LSAT & grades

3. putting it on hold until DH is done with his degree. That might be a good idea, you may be able to pick up from where you left off depending on your school's regulations and then he will have a salary.

Have you spoken to your deans about this? Sometimes they have better ideas.
