may be a silly question Embarassed - but I made bagels today, does anyone know if I'm required to separate some dough that is not challah bread?

It's not a silly question Wink it is actually asked by the modern poskim but the halacha says yo do have to separate dough since you bake them.
And you have to separate from any dough that was not baked with juice instead of water...
Hope the come out yummy

If you are using less than 4.5 lbs. of flour, then no Bracha is made.
Enjoy your fresh bread!

Clarification: you separate CHALLAH from any dough (bread/cookie/cake batter) that is made with water and [wheat/spelt/barley/rye/oat] flour. The fact that the Shabbat loaves are called challah as well has absolutely nothing to do with the mitzvah of separating challah.
