I was wondering if anyone could help me with time frame of ordering appliances once I arrive in Israel. We will probably be arriving the end of July. I will need to order kitchen appliances and bedroom furniture. How long will it take for these things to be delivered? Does anyone have any recommendations for places to buy bedroom furniture? Beds and Arons? And I think I would like mattresses more like American ones...is it possible?

A lot of it really depends on where you'll be living and where you'll be ordering from.

Some can be gotten within a few days, but if you are making closets to order it can take up to a month.

So most places only deliver there one day a week and will charge you between 200 and 400 (or more) NIS extra for delivery.

Other places will need to arrange delivery and other places still will lie that they deliver and then take 3 weeks to get their act together to find someone who will deliver.

Zik Or has a store for appliances on Yafo - in jerusalem and in Mevasseret. They will deiver anywhere for reasonable prices, and usually will match internet prices (Zap.co.il).

As for beds - same kind of service from Rise Hi in Talpiot. They are not cheap, but have good quality beds , couches and hirisers.

I forgot about the 3 weeks....

I don't think I could wait till after the 3 weeks, it would be pushing it....If I get the NBN flight I want I will arrive on the 26th of July.

I have twin beds for all my kids... do you think they will fit in a typical Israeli home? I much prefer having a real twin bed, then the Israeli sofa beds....and it would save me a lot of money to bring furniture that I already have.... then I would just purchase a large wall closet for each room....
