Pesach isn't for another week and a half. Should nothing happen in school between now and then?

amother, the teacher assigned it to your daughter, not to you. let her do it by herself. it'll keep her busy while you clean Smile

The kids can learn and have all the homework they need. But when planning my last week and a half before Pesach I did not put in time for trips to the library to do research and trips to the crafts store for supplies. Not to mention that since I have done this project before with older dd - it has quite a few parts to it and requires parent participation. Really, what were they thinking?!?!

BTW - I also teach and cannot imagine doing this to the parents in my class.

in that case, send in a note of complaint and tell the teacher that you will not allow your child to do this project before pesach. perhaps she'll change the due date.

Plus, although she is one of my younger ones this dd happens to love to clean and watch the babies. (sigh) And this teacher is making Pesach too - perhaps the bleach affected her judgement!

I would only do that if I could sign it "amother"! I hate starting a ruckus. I guess that's why I'm venting here!

actually, I think a lot of people (teachers or otherwise) don't prepare for pesach. a lot of young teachers probably seal up their apartments and go to their parents/in-laws. don't be too sure she's preparing unless she told you so. she may not be aware of the energy it takes. so just refuse to have your daughter do it. if you're worried about repercussions, call the principal and complain.

don't start a ruckus, just make the teacher more aware. I'm all for speaking up.

dear teacher,

I'm afraid chanale will not be able to complete your assignment in the given time. I am incredibly busy preparing for pesach right now, and I cannot spare the time to take her to the library for the sources she needs. two of my older children have done this project in the past, and they were not able to complete it without parental assistance. I would be grateful if the girls' assignment were changed in one of two ways:
either change the due date to a week or so after pesach (giving the mothers ample time to help out) or allow the girls to complete the project in class under your supervision. if using the second example, please allow the girls time to research in the school library.

thank you for understanding,

mrs. amother (sign your real name here, obviously)

I'm sure the teacher is not out to get you.

She is making Pesach and is actually a harried, young mom of a bunch of kids too! I know that if I say something she will say ok start it after Pesach but at the end of the day, after Pesach my dd will have to squeeze more work into less time. Just venting. I know irl I can't kvetch so it's nice to have a place where I can let it out.

The teacher is a sweetheart but if I recall correctly from my older daughter it's a grade project involving many classes. Changing everything will be a big deal. Project will happen, Pesach will happen. Just kvetching to y'all so I can smile when dh walks in. Smile

when a child is under a certain age the bulk falls on the mommy who needs to help and supervise.

If its an older child, mommy loses a pair of hands on the days preceding peasach.

she should be very understanding, then. ask her to allow the girls class time to work on it.

Vent all u want. My daughter came home with a note saying she will not have hw until after Pesach. I was shocked, I never heard such a thing but I was happy. I wish my boys came home with a lighter load. They are all young and I need to sit with them. I could get alot done (I'm moving also) if I didnt have to worry about hw.

My DD's school also send a note that the teachers are not allowed to assign any HW till after Pesach. What a relief!

I dont get it, in the schools in wmsbg girls fifth or sixth grade and up have OFF FROM SCHOOL from rosh chodesh nissan to help their mothers!!! Homework or projects those 2 weeks??? there's no school at all! It's the best thing in the world!....

Personally I'm benefiting so much from this, I have high school volunteers so graciously taking my toddler out to the park, ferrying him to and from therapy so I dont have to leave my house, and can clean for pesach more easily. Best thing ever.
