yep, here too
some were and some weren't
I don't know if having an upsherin helps the age 3 decision because we did make an upsherin.

This is definitely one of those AYLOR situations.
As I wrote above, we put on from the child's third birthday, regardless of the diaper situation; we were told to simply change the child ASAP when necessary. Others I know who are of the same 'religious persuasion' as I , asked a different rav and were told to wait until the child was toilet trained.

Three AND daytime trained. DS#1 wasn't trained until he was almost 4...as soon as he was trained he got tzitzit. DS#2 was trained before his 3rd birthday; he had to wait for his tzitzit. We don't make upshernish, so no connection there for us. _________________ Emmanuel Tzvi: 26 Shevat 5766

3, regardless of toilet training status, just change if they get dirty. BUT, neither of our kids of age wear them every day. We have trouble with our 4 year old who finds them uncomfortable and we don't send them to daycare in them as it's not a Jewish centre and they don't know how to care for them when toileting (forget) so it's just easier to send them without. _________________ Specialising in boys since 2006:

At an age that they seem to be able to handle them, even before 3. Practically, my son started at 2.4, when he was fully toilet-trained. He wore them on and off before, but I put them away during training and then reintroduced them. _________________ Moshiach Now!

DS started at 3. He was dry in the daytime by around 2.5. _________________ Lucky Mom to 5

I was told that toilet training status is not important, since men do not remove their tzitzis when going to the bathroom.

We did age 3, toilet trained, had an upsherin... I made a big push for my boys to be trained by 3 - I think only one of them had issues after 3, but they were sporadic. Huh. I think my memory must be going - I'm not sure I remember clearly anymore. All of my boys were trained before 3 or by their upsherin - just under the nose - my dd took longer, but then again, she doesn't wear tzitzis _________________ Rivka
