I am sure I am not the only one with grape juice stains on their challah covers . . .
how do you wash them? What type of detergent do you use?

I have one silk colorful challah cover, and one white one with gold embroidered letters and tassles.

I put mine to soak as soon as possible after shabbas in warm water with detergent. We have soap here called 'Sard Wondersoap' which I would use on stains that is good. The cover with the gold embroidery and tassels I would certainly wash by hand.

Mine are covered in a slip on plastic type of thing. I just wipe them down.

I also have stains on the silk variety, and also a cross stitch one that I made years ago. I am afraid to ruin them. Any further tips would be great.

I spot clean mine (white, with colored cross-stitch, handmade). I put a dab of soap on the spot, and rinse just the spot, carefully, by folding the material. For stubborn spots, I once or twice dabbed on a TINY bit of bleach. So far, so good, going on 20 years.
