Isn't all the organizing and tidying just what regular people should be doing n year-round anyway? We don't allow any food AT ALL upstairs year round, only drinks, so I never consider the entire upstairs as a place that needs to be cleaned for chametz. Clothes need to be checked and washed, but that's normal practice anyway.

As for downstairs, I try to keep organized year round without much clutter, so the 'only' (haha) big thing to deal with it the actual kitchen.

I liked the idea that I learned last year, to set aside a closet that is KLP about a month before Pesach, and start putting in things in advance ready for Pesach, like cleaned toys, clothes that didn't need to be worn in the mean time etc.

Cleaning for Pesach I do now. Preping I only do when my kitchen is Pesadik...I don't want to kasher my kitchen twice thank you, and di would not feel comfortable makingfor for Pesach that was sitting around chametz unless it was something like an apple that I could wash off . But I wouldn't u se smaltz or something like that...or anything that had been touched with a non-pesadika knife...that to me is problematic.
When I say shmaltz, I mean the stuff that isn't processed, just the bits and blobs. I only render the fat once my kitchen is kashered pesach time.

The most "pre planning" I'm thinking of at the moment is wondering if logisticlly there will be a way to toivel my new Pesach dishes when they arrive from the states so I don't have to do that in teh Erev Pesach rush. I know I can run to the mikvah, but usually we wash the dishes right after and my kitchen won't be done yet.
