Do you have to cover your hair when you say a bracha?
I don't cover my hair at night, and sometimes I get up to go to b/r or drink a glass of water. Also, does it matter if I'm in front of seforim, including Chumashim?

in my understanding. u only have to cover your hair for men that are not ur husband. anything else is not required and are things that ppl take on themselves. they are not halacha!

I'm confused - is your poll about whether I cover at night, or whether I cover to make a beracha? The answer for me is not the same. I only cover at night when niddah, but I cover to make a beracha.

OP here.
Robyn, is that brought down somewhere? In all the Nidda books I've read (Rabbi Forst, Abramowitz, Ohel Aryeh, and others) they say that when a woman is nidda, she should cover her elbows, knees, and hair - the parts that must be covered according to the Torah - when she's in front of her husband. I get headaches at night from hair coverings and do not sleep well, so I got a "reluctant" heter to sleep with hair uncovered. I was wondering if other people go through the same thing.

Sorry, I realized it's confusing cuz the poll and the question are really different subjects. You can answer whichever you feel like. Thx for your answer.

To th OP, you are going to get many different answers here. I for one NEVER cover my hair, nidda or not, when I am in my home (or my parents home), unless there is a male besides for my husband, father or brother.

Do you hold that it is a problem for your husband to say berachos/daven while facing you without your head covered? Or is that considered fine?
I don't always cover at home due to headaches, but when my dh has to say bracha/daven/torah he turns away. That's what we learned.

We learned that it is fine for for my husband to say a bracha even when my hair is not covered.

You forgot the "I cover at night only if I have to leave my room and we have male guests in the house" option.

I don't know about niddah, but my rav says that for yourself, you can be pretty close to stark naked and still say a bracha (I can't remember what the thing was--maybe a separation like a belt? underwear? not sure). But, a man cannot say a bracha while looking at ervah.

only a man cant be naked when saying a beracha. (I dont purposely say a beracha when naked) he has to have a separation btw his upper half and lower half. did anyone think about thte fact that we make a beracha when in the mikva and we're naked?

When you are niddah, your husband is allowed to see (but not stare at for pleasure) parts of you that you are normally not careful to cover.

Meaning, if when tehorah, you will, around the house, roll up your sleeves above the elbow, sit on the couch with your knees showing, or sit around with uncovered hair, even if only in the bedroom, then you can do all of the above when niddah (although, of course, some will be machmir). And many people hold the same for singing.

I realize this is an old post, but it came up under "I want to uncover my hair" and I felt like commenting...
