Lysol spray, Febreze spray, or sprinkle with plain baking soda, let set for a few hours or a day or two, then vacuum.

remove the carpet if you can if not spray with carpet stain remover or prosolve is my fave....baking soda left for a few days works wonders!

similar personal experience:

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!! milk spilled in my car 2 years ago, after using Pet carpet cleaners, baking soda, professional detailer, carpet deodarizers, and I even killed a vacuum hose trying ot suck up all the gunk, the car still stinks! I'm counting down the days until my lease is up!!!

I googled online for ideas, many people were most successful with Pet cleaners, especially one carpet cleaner from Petco. I go tthat but my stain was so big it didnt work, even though I used the whole container. every so often I vacuum out the gunk and re-apply baking soda.

I learned my lesson about life with milkin cars, either no milk in the car or it gets wrapped in 15 layers of cling wrap to prevent spillage!!!!

and for all you coffee drinkers, the same results happen when cofee spills!
