| Wondering why they stopped it suddenly? It sounded like an interesting serial to me.

But for kids? It was getting pretty intensely adult IMO. Kids should not be involved in the politics of getting into seminary. It is terrible that it happens, but do we need to write about the corruptness and the need for connections in a children's publication?! _________________ Liba, mommy to Zlata Tova 5/6/98, Tziporah Faiga 1/12/01, Esther Rivka 7/13/04 and Avraham Chaim 7/2/2006

Yeah I wasn't too fond of it either. Seemed like a REALLY weird theme for a kids' serial. Maybe if we were sticking to the feelings of the girls who were having a hard time getting in, but this was too involved. And the shrink? er....
BTW I think there's a little problem in translation - so many of these stories are written by Israelis and then printed for Americans; I am pretty sure that by "seminar" they mean what we call high school. So the kids in the story are about 12/13, making it a suitable topic for kids but still - to be addressed from the kids' point of view, not the adults'.

| The mindset of the story was so Israeli - both the high school part and the psychologist part (sounded like what an Israeli thinks goes on in America) - that I really couldn't get into the story anyhow. But I thought they had just forgotten to print this week's installment, not that it was cancelled.

| On a complete side note, I was astonished at what was written in the story about the psychologist kind of "setting up" the two clients, talking to one kid about another kid. How are kids who read this kind of stuff supposed to trust their confidentiality with the adults who are supposed to help them? Ugh.

It was printed in the magazine that due to various reasons the serial is being discontinued.

| Agree with Seeker -- I found the psychologist part pretty disturbing. Already in the first, or was it second, chapter -- when she set up a girl to be sitting in the waiting room to make the client feel comfortable... felt very unrealistic and wrong. I don't think that 10 year old girls need to be reading such a serial.

| I mean a chareidi Israeli who never went to a psychologist and doesn't know anyone who did, or has no inkling of a therapist's code of ethics.

I noticed the note saying that it was being discontinued, and I was wondering why...
The serial didn't make much sense either way, I was just thinking the previous week that it was time to stop reading it.
I'm kinda surprised-
I was sure that I was the only one following the serials in the junior section. Anyone else following the Africa story? I guess I'm not the only adult reading that stuff.

Are you talking about the kids lost in Africa? Rhona Lewis is not the author of that story.
