IMO too early to know. Mishpacha might do something spectacular to combat the competition and I don't know how AMI is going to turn out to be.
I'm this nut who buys (till now) Hamodia, Yated, Z'man, Mishpacha, Binah and @ the end of Shabbos (summer!) I'm like, "We have nooooothing to read!" LOL

Maybe there should be a weekly poll on imamother with everyone voting which mag was their favorite for the week.
It can get rated separately by category-cover stories, recipes...because everyone likes something else. Will have to wait for next Ami to set it up.

Can I suggest not having a weekly poll or asking about one or the other since there are writers from both magazines here and the debate may be hurtful?
I don't buy ANY of them for a variety of reasons, but most important financial. But it could lead to hurt feelings. MHO... _________________ But then again, I'm a dragon.

| Good point. Didn't think of that. So maybe just overall poll of favorite for the week without going into detail. If you think it could still lead to hurt feelings I'd just scrap it. (I'm a writer myself. Right now I have stuff coming up in Ami but have been published by Mishpacha and Binah also. I wouldn't want to hear my articles destroyed but wouldn't mind honest feedback. I think. Maybe I'm not as thickskinned as I think.)

Or here are the differences, so that people can pick and choose. Perhaps Mishpacha is geared more to, Ami more to, Binah more to, as long as everything is stated in a positive way.

| I hope Ami doesn't try to compete with Mishpacha, because they are no Mishpacha. They should focus on a different audience to be matlziech.

Whom should they be targeting? What kind of articles?
No, I'm not running demographic research for Ami, just wondering. They want to appeal to the whole family, unlike Binah, which is for women and children. That means a news-features section, a family life with recipes etc. section, and a kids' section. Right?

Lovely.
Before you want to change a forum, you have to think "Am I an active contributor to the forum? Why should they listen to me? Why should I have any say?"
If you hadn't realized- the people who speak about Ami or Mishpacha are people who've influenced this site by their presence because they've been here a while and actually post and contribute to this site. What you said is just a little chutzpa, especially that you've insinuated that we're "Ami spies". I don't work for Ami, neither does Mama Bear, neither does das or anyone else who's posted about Ami. I know quite a few people who work for mishpacha who are on imamother. So just... be quiet.
Yes, I'm annoyed, and yes, this post was probably just a bit rude, but I think it needed to be said.

| I was very impressed with AMI. The graphics were great , very eyecatching. The articles were fun and exciting. I was thinking that maybe I liked it so much because it was brand new and I am getting bored of the other magazines.

Get together with a friend that also only buys one magazine. One of you buys Mishpacha, and one buys Ami. When you're done, exchange!

I just don't spend my money on these things. If I'm going to read a magazine it would have to be a very high quality magazine, on par with Scientific American or World & I. Relaxation reading is books to me. I just don't like the title of the thread.
I think it would be good to talk about what is appealing about the two so those who enjoy reading the magazines can make up their mind about which is better FOR THEM, not necessarily which is better.

Maybe she means she is an independent contractor and not an employee?
In any event, pretty hard to ban the word AMI from the site when they are a paid advertiser !
And some of us enjoy reading and talking about the magazines.
