Hi. We live in a very small town with no options for high school for my daughter. She will be going out of town for grades 9-12. We are looking for something frum(Yeshivish or Chabad) but open minded. We would consider a Bais Yaakov or a Chabad School but not a school that is going to pick up her skirt to see if she's wearing socks or tights. Does such a school exist anywhere in North America?

I would be wary of going there if you didnt live in town.

IME, the local girls are great but many of the OOTers that come to the school are less than ideal.

Try Bais Chana Academy in New Haven/Orange CT.

It's Chabad, very small, and soooo warm. There are 4 girls in the dorm which is a house located next door to the school, with a lovely dorm counselor taking care of them.

There's no picking up skirts, or even having to wear pantyhose, as long as knees are covered , it's all good.

My dd spent last yr in one of those "pick up skirts to check if they're wearing socks" schools and she hated it, so I switched her to BCA.

If u want more info, contact Mrs. Alperowitz, hebrew principal , at 203-795-5261 or check out their website at

Bina High School in Norfolk VA.
21 girls, lots of extra curricular. Nice community, boarding families. They don't get hung up on patterned socks and long sleeves under short sleeves...
Good luck

I 2nd prospect park. I went there and while every school has its flaws, being closed minded wasnt one of them I really liked it there and im not a typical bais yaakov girl, at all. I asked tons of questions, and no one ever told me not to. a teacher might have said, im not knowledgeable enough or dont know the answer, but good question. then they would tell me of a person to ask who would potentially have he answer. some girls in my class even asked questions bordering on apikorsus and no one said, dont say that its lack of emunah..... but would say not for class, after. we also had really frum girls bordering on chassidush in our grade to a girl who joined peta. basically all types.
