Im looking for a recipe I once saw posted here using canned mushroom soup to make chicken and rice iin the oven. Can anyone pt me in the right dircetion?? cant seem to find it now...wanna make it tonight.

I think I have a recipe somewhere. Do you have canned Parve cream of mushroom soup? Where, oh where did you find it? Smile

whoops! I think its just mushroom soup, not cream of...
I remebered seeing a recipe like this here, but thought ot was plain mushroom soup, and bought that.
but, if u have the recip, ill try it with this soup anyway.
I think someone said they make this wiht rice under in the oven as a quick meal for shabbos....but cant find the recipe now...

I'm pretty sure you're talking about my recipe. Here it is (it's condensed mushroom soup, not cream of mushroom):

I spread rice on the bottom of the pan. I then take an onion and a can of mushrooms and spread them on top of the rice. On top of that, I put pieces of chicken (I usually use thighs and take the skin off, but you could leave the skin on and use whatever pieces you want). On top of the chicken, I sprinkle pepper and garlic and some onion soup mix. Then I take two cans of condensed mushroom soup and one can of water and pour it all on top. Cook covered for 1-1/2 hours at 350, then uncover, sprinkle some paprika on top and cook for another half hour.

I tried this one, with Rokeach condensed mushroom soup.

Note: it took me muuuch longer for the chicken to cook through, and the rice to cook as well. I also had to uncover it for quite some time. I wonder if it should just be baked uncovered the whole time.

I'd really like to try this one, but I haven't found cream of mushroom soup yet.

gave up and made carmelized chicekn with sweet potatos tonight, but will try this soon...

Make sure to use brown rice if you do this some other time as the white rice will get mushy. Also I wouldn't bake it uncovered except for the last 15 minutes as the grains will become dried out that way.
