Has anyone had experience with the increasingly popular (and very economical) laminate wood flooring in bedrooms? I've heard many conflicting reports about it's practicality (mainly) and was wondering
whether it's that bad for use in bedrooms that are largely not occupied throughout the day!
TIA! _________________ Wear a smile and have friends; wear a scowl and have wrinkles.

I installed laminate in my living and dining rooms about 6 months ago.
it hasn't been that long, but so far it has held up well. we spend most of our time in the living room. my kids also drag dining room chairs all over the floor and it has been scratch resistant.
I always make sure to wipe up spills immediately, and I clean it very frequently with vinegar and water in a spray bottle with a microfiber mop. (it does show dirt pretty easily.)
it doesn't look as nice as wood floors. yes, it looks cheaper. but it looks a billion times better than the carpet I had, and I don't regret the purchase at all.
we bought cheap laminate from lumber liquidators (79 cents per sq. ft.) and installed it ourselves. it was cheap beyond belief.

I recently had a simcha in the eishes chayil banquet hall, and seized the opportunity to tour the kimpeturin floors. The sleeping quarters all have laminate floors, and they look gorgeous, the second anniversary is about now. However, I don't know if it's the cheaper ones from Home Depot or the more costly ones from Amtico. _________________ Because it's good!

Thank you both for your response.
The part that concerns me most is practicality instead of durability. The rooms wont be in use most of the day except for the playroom so no dragging chairs, furniture etc. as the occupants are mostly wee ones. How much does dirt, fingerprints, damp footprints and scuff marks show up on it? Will it be necessary to wash them more than once a week? (no food in the rooms ever)

We have parquet (?)- laminated wood, in all our bedrooms and the playroom. I have 4 boys. IMHO, you totally don't need to wash it more than once a week. When you do wash it, wash it with the cleaning liquid specifically for that kind of floor and not a lot of water. It is easy to take care of. I think it looks very nice. | My parents got it for the main floor. it's terrible because it's not supposed to get wet. If water falls on it and sits for a little the floor starts to come up. it looks beautiful in general and I didn't notice it getting scratches easily.
