If I remember correctly the brisker rav's son had it. It is not ONLY by the chassidim but much more common in the chassidish circles.

Every dance at the wedding is a mitzvah tantz. It's all done to honor the bride and groom.

'Mitzva tantz' is meant for the kallah, not the chosson. The men at the wedding danced for the chosson, but not yet for the kallah- that's what mitzva tantz is for. Of course every dance at the chasuna is a mitzva, but 'mitzva tantz' is something that wasn't accomplished until then, because during the wedding the women danced for the kallah, not the men. Also, the chosson himself was not yet misameyach the kallah, so that's when he gets a chance to dance for/with her.

by litvish pple the kalla goes to the mens side by ketz hamirakdim- is the reason for that the same as for the mitzvah tanz? so that the men and chossen can dance for her also?

if thats the case then why do some litvish pple not go to the mens side at all?

I didnt realize its an inyan for the men to dance for the kalla

I'm just repeating what our rabbonim told me, when I asked.
