So I've been using a ratty silver plated tray for years. I told DH I wanted one of those mirrored trays for my birthday and apparently we have radically different ideas. (I like simple and classy, he like ungepotchke).

Also I light oil, so I am concerned about being able to easily wash it after shabbos in case there is a spill.

I was thinking along these lines: http://www.amazon.com/Studio-Silversmith-MIRROR-TRAY-12X16/dp/B0014AP8PM/ref=pd_sbs_bt_5

And he found the one in the picture attached.

While I love both, the wood one is silver plate, and I was looking to get a piece of clear lucite to put on top but the store says they can't get it. Isn't there someone in Boro Park that makes lucite to order?

I'm interested in your opinions or if you know of places online where I might be able to find something in this realm. I need a relatively big tray as I light six plus I have 3 girls who light.

TIA!

You sure you want lucite? Lucite is flammable. I think for a leichter tray you would be better off with glass. You can make a glass custom order at Hoffman's at 1316 41 Street in BP.

She's right. Isn't there a place that makes glass to order on Empire/Albany?

I love the wood, but the minute olive oil spills on it, it will be stained. I thought lucite would keep it clean, but if it's flammable then I think I'll skip it! Shocked

Bubby where is the place you're talking about?

What type of place is Hoffman's? Judaica? Housewares?

It's called Hoffman's Glass. You can get all kinds of custom glass from them (like table covers, etc.)

You can also try Aviv Glass & Mirrors:
718-871-1748
5521 Fort Hamilton Pkwy, Brooklyn, NY 11219

I've used Aviv, very good work. There used to be a small place on Albany just over Empire, left side, a couple of doors down. I don't know if it's still there.

(found this through google)
1316 41st St
Brooklyn, NY 11218

I have no experience with them, but I have worked with Aviv. They do a nice job and have great service.

Good luck!
