not yet
3 1/2 more weeks.
every day I look at that beautiful long blond curly hair and wonder how I can ever cut it off.
my new idea for dessert is platters of melon shapes cut with Jewish-themed cookie cutters.

Can anyone give me tips for making a trifle? I want to make a huge one to feed 40 people. ( ) is it possible?
anyone have an idea of what I can use for a huge bowl? or should I just plan to make two?
What are some really good things to put in trifle?

how can cake and cream with toppings taste bad?
why is it different than a regular cake with icing and toppings?

oh, thanx for explaining.
im not planning on putting any rum in, just layers of cake and cream, maybe fruit, and maybe pudding if I want to make it milchig.
I also wanted to make chocolate Alef Beis letters in the middle of it all, against the bowl where theyre visible.
but I wonder how it would come out.

I never made it before, just admired people who did
maybe I should make a practice one, I dont know.
the truth is the reason I came up with this idea is because im making it instead of a big cake, since I have no patience or time to sit and make a beautiful huge perfectly frosted and perfectly decorated cake.
mine will be only family and close friends, so I dont need to do anything really fancy.
so dessert will be a huge trifle (if I can find a big enough bowl!)
jewish-themed melon shapes
ice cream sundaes
im looking for an arts and crafts project for the kids.
and you all know I'm making a falafel stand for the main part.
whats on your menu, shayna?

hi. firstly, trifle is very rich and feeling. noone takes a slice all the way down the bowl. so I think one of the regular sizes is good enough. not everyone will have, and you are having other yummy things, so I dont think you should be worried about the amount.
we are having lots of family come, so I decided to just have a nosh party for the upsherin and have a nice dinner later that night.
my theme is construction wtih torah mitzvos also. so im doing dump trucks wtih torah chocolate molds in them, the kids willd ecorate aleph beis cookies, a truck jello mold, a siddur cake, mud cake in the dump truck, lego candies.
plus all the decorations, stop signs, cones, construction tape, balloons, o also a truck pinata at the end.
I just might do a trifle.

right, so maybe I should aim for 30 people instead of 40.
or maybe I could maybe 40 tiny ones, one for each person...
I was wondering if you were still doing the construction theme. if you want, ive seen some really cute stuff with that theme in different birthday party catalogs.
one I remember offhand, was those orange cones which were drinking cups, straws coming out of the tops. other stuff like that.
checkout birthdayexpress.com, oriental trading, and others for these kind of things.

Yum!
I had a great trifle on Sunday.
I think it was made up of chocolate cake, whipped cream, and chocolate pudding.

Trifle serves tons of ppl - don't forget, ppl scoop out as much or as little as they want and eventually it does go down to the bottom of the bowl.
I bake 2 round chocolate cakes,
put 1 in the trifle bowl, then use pareve milk w/ choc pudding (instant) and mix that w/ whipped cream and spread over, then spread w/ plain whipped cream. you can put in chocolate sandwhich cookies on top of that or even viennese crunch and then repeat cake, choc whip, plain whip, and topping.
