| Are there colleges outside of NY that do not accept the Raizel Reit-TTI Bachelors degree which is from Excelsior College as a normal BA with which to enter graduate school? This degree is gotten through testing and not class time. Has anyone NOT gained admittance to a master program outside of NYC with this BA? Dos getting this Bachelors put one at a disadvantage when wanting to go on to a graduate program out of state?

I would imagine that there are some places that don't accept/acknowledge such a program. Are you asking about out-of-state because you know that it's not recognized everywhere within New York state?
What kind of programs are you looking into? (what specialty, I mean.)
(I happen to be a firm believer in going to class. Seriously, why does everyone feel a need to rush through college? Take an extra year, maybe you'll learn something too!) _________________ "You can say this for ready-mixes - the next generation isn't going to have any trouble making pies exactly like mother used to make." ~Earl Wilson

It's a great bachelors! I have many friends who have done it and gone on to schools all over. My sister is doing it now and going to UMDNJ (University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey) for their Physician's Assistant program. My sister-in-law did it and just started her MA in Social Work in Baltimore.
The only place that will give you an issue with the degree is Touro, because TTI is competition and they do not want anyone going anywhere but Touro (they won't take Maalot either)
No one I know who has done it (and I know A LOT of people) has had a problem. Excelsior is a regular regionally accredited college, and the degree is a regular degree. One of my friends went to Columbia University with it.

For the record, Touro was going to accept me into their School Psychology MA program with a BA from TTI. _________________

Oh! Good to know. I guess it's on a case to case basis. Or maybe they tell you they won't so you'll go for their undergrad, but if you end up going to TTI they'll take you for the MA anyway

Thanks for your replies everyone. I was just asking for my daughter who just came back from sem.
I'm thinking if 5 years from now she's living in Anytown USA and wanted to get her MA in something would they accept her BA from Excelsior in any city college or state university.
It looks from the replies that it's basically excepted.
I think TTI used to accept college-seminary credits from MJI but no longer do so but if she does do TTI I will fight this. She deserves to get the full 24 credits coming to her from seminary. This really upsets me...
We're leaning much more to TTI now than Touro-we always were. My daughter is a girl who is motivated and can do the tests; very academic.
Touro, FYI gives very large scholarships for those with great high school averages and SAT scores, still TTI is much cheaper.
Is there any advantage in going to Touro does anyone think?

TTI takes MJI credits. They just have to do an appeals process.

-The problem with the degree is that the CLEPs and testing in the liberal arts subjects are given a Pass/Fail grade and the jewish subject tests are graded. A GPA is generated and the colleges need that so that's good. But they may look at a transcript and see the student never actually got a grade in math, science subjects and never took any coursework in these normal liberal arts subjects and so require the student when she enters a masters program, to take alot of undergraduate classes all over again.
You don't work for TTI do you? What social work school in Baltimore admitted your sister to the Master's program with the TTI Bachelors from Excelsior? Lots of questions as need to register my daughter immediately!!!!

| Just a heads up -- some places aren't as quick to hire girls who don't go to a 'real' college program. My job is one of those places who want people who have degrees and Master's from sitting in a real classroom and learning. Especially if there are plenty of other resumes going around.

I don't work for TTI and I don't know the name of the school I can ask her, but I have a friend here who went to Adelphi for social work.
I think if the school you're going to will have an issue with CLEPs you will know.
My sister is doing tti and going for PA at umdnj. She's taking her sciences (with lab) at a college and transferring them in. The only thing she's clepping is math and sociology because they told her she could. (they have a list on their website of which prerequisites she can clep) she's also taking 3 jewish exams. otherwise she's using her high school and seminary credits. she just came home from israel last year and she's applying already for the masters.
I think depending on what you want to do will depend on whether it's a good degree for you to get. Most colleges don't have a problem with cleps. but if they do you can always take that one math or science as a course.

The TTI BA is tests and the MA program is classroom learning.

| I think it is more likely that people do not get accepted to Touro with the TTI degree.

I'd like to know actual instances of people who were actually denied admission to a Masters program at Touro or of more actual instances-personal real life stories- of people going to Touro for their Masters after completing their BA or is it BS at TTI/Excelsior??
I need to register my daughter this week if I want to get financial aid this semester. Anyone out there admitted to Touro after TTI?????
