Chuppah Gemach and general Gemach question...

Does anyone know of a gemach in NYC for a chuppah? My best friend (who made the move to become more frum w/ me a few years ago) is getting married. Smile

The only issue is that she is getting married at an event space in Manhattan, and the florist quoted her over $1,500 for a chuppah. I was going to help her with a "do it yourself" one (hence a posting in another thread a few weeks back), but now that's not possible. Anyone know of a gemach in NY?

Also, I've never used a gemach before. I've only donated items. How does the lending work? How do we make a donation?

For general info--the number for the chuppah gemach has changed: it's now (May 2010) either [number removed, please pm poster for info]
As for the broom handles:--you don't live in Brooklyn, do you? Wink
