NEED SOME TEMPORARY FINANCIAL HELP PLEASE

Since the economic downturn, alot of us are hurting big time. Both my husband and myself have been laid off....nursing and computers ( yes believe it or not, these two areas have been greatly affected). to complicate matters we are of an 'older age', where going back to school or retraining in something else is not possible or even desirable.
Meanwhile we get unemployment benefits, and waiting for some private disability benefits to materialze soon, but as usual it is schlepping ( my husband has a chronic health concern).
We need some help with our rent, otherwise we could get evicted. ( we are a 1.5 months in arrears; prior to getting laid off we were excellent tenants, always paying on time, even early and kept the house in excellent condition. But then the economic meltdown effected us greatly The Met council has helped in the pass, and there has been some other resources of minor amounts.
Somebody told me that the community council in Williamsburg could be a good resource for people in temporary financial need. Does anyone have a contact number, or the name of this organization which I hear does a great amount of chesed. and where exactly are they located?
Once our disability benefits come through, in a few months we are going back to Israel, but until then, we are in a predicament, big time and need advice...anyone?
ps. as mentioned, we are both getting unemployment benefits and do not qualify for medicaid or food stamps, you know we are in that middle class area; not quite impoverished and certainly not of great wealth.....so rights and govenment aid is hard to come by. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I am so sorry for the difficulty you are experiencing. I wish I had some concrete information for you but I don't. If you are also Israeli citizens please make sure you are eligible for the disability payments while you are here. My son with Down Syndrome who has dual citizenship can only receive Betuach Leumi here. He can not get SSI here. I realize you mentioned a private disability payment so this might not apply. I just hear your pain and don't want you to get caught expecting money to come in and not get it.

MY COMMUNITY CROWN HTS, ALTHOUGH CARING, ARE LIMITED, AND ANY RESOURCES THERE HAVE BEEN EXHAUSTED ................

I have the number of the comm council. I used it for a green card the organization is called UJO in wiiliamsburg. hope this helps. 718 643 9700. hatzlacha.

ladies, thank you for your replies...I called this organization and I will follow through........hopefully they will be able to help in some capacity.
Bless you all, and to my Israeli friends....I hope to see you soon...........we have a home in ramat bet shemesh, and we are aiming to go back after the chaggim........funny when we lived in Jerusalem and surrounding area for 18 years, I had one foot still in the States and one in Israel.....wasn't wholeheartedly there....now, after being in the States 6 years+, I am yearning to go back, after all it is a privilege.
