The surgeon who operated on my son did and excellent job in every way. I've had 10 follow-up appointments, and I still haven't given him a gift. Any ideas? I don't really know him that well, but I think he's really wealthy and could probably buy whatever he wanted.

Also, I want to send something to the perinatologist and some of the other NICU staff. They were really above and beyond.

Lastly, my midwife. She was wonderful. I brought her a card, but haven't found a present. My baby is 8 months old!!

We went through the same thing a few years ago. We gave the surgeon a few bottles of expensive shnops - each time we had an appointment at the beg. we brought a bottle. For the NICU staff we bought electric bbqs - we bought about 25 of them. They get tremendous chizuk and naches out of seeing our miracle, so we bring a birthday cake and sometimes balloons as well, to the NICU for his birthday every year. The surgeon also asked that we come one a year to give him naches. It's a shlep to Ein Kerem, bu the hakaras hatov that we owe him is endless.

I forgot to add on about the midwife. Mine was a DOLL in every way - I bought her some Michal Negrin jewelry and gave it to her with an exchange slip. I had no idea what kind of stuff she would like, so with the exchange slip she was able to switch it if she wanted to.

I brought small gifts along the way when DD was still in the hospital, but I think when I wrote thank you notes and birthday cake we brought when she celebrated her birthday was really made them know that I felt it was due to them that we reached this milestone.
