Who should be responsible?

dh got his tooth pulled a few weeks ago.
ever since then he felt a huge hole in the tooth next to it.
he told the dentist - the dentist fixed it but of course charged him full price -- (and I hope it doesn't turn to a root canal as it was very deep)
is it only me who thinks a responsible dentist would not charge to fix somthing he caused?

How did the dentist cause the hole? Hole=cavity?

Did the dentist say "Oops! Drill slipped, I made a hole in the next tooth"? I don't see how the dentist is responsible. It's happened to me so many times. Bad luck (or bad teeth!)

the dentist should have mentioned it the first time, but even then he would have charged full price to fix it.

floss, floss, floss and you and he will have less teeth problems. I floss while waiting in the carpool line.
