So I'm using fondant for the first time. Ds' b-day is coming up and I won't have a lot of time before the party, so I wanted to make the cake in advance. Particularly, I wanted to color the fondant in advance. I bought the fondant and I have the dyes. Can I color them and then ziplock them? Will it harden? Thanks/

you can color your fondant and keep it in the fridge for weeks. when its time to use it, take it out and give it time to get to room temperature.

no need to refrigerate. Ziploc bags are fine. you Will just need to re-knead a bit before you roll it out.

Thank you so much, both of you.

How hard is it to get a consistent color? Meaning, the fondant I bought is white and I want it blue, how long, how hard will it be? How much time should I set aside for it? It's about 72 oz.

you need to knead the food coloring very thoroughly. It will take about ten minutes of vigorous kneading to get it all uniform. I just made fondant cookies, the hardest part was the kneading. the rest is enjoyable. PM me for more tips I've done a few projects recently.

to turn it blue you should use a gel type food coloring.it is much more concentrated than regular food coloring.
