I have heard from a friend that it is considered more tznius to wear them all of the time. I see women wearing them with no problems but I find them extremely uncomfortable to wear all of the time and it seems that every time I wear them they rip or tear in some spot. I was thinking of starting to wear them all of the time this winter and then get useto them as it gets warmer. What are the reasons you wear panty house/tights? Is there some type of halacha dealing with them?

People wear them all the time so as to be sure that they are covered.

I wear them when I go out, but not at home - I think they're a yeast infection waiting to happen !

I for one cant stand them either. I wear sneakers and long sweat socks and a long skirt daily. My feet need new balance sneakers, I cant stand the shvitzy feeling in my feet, And to me its the equivalent of sitting in a bathing suit all day- it feels too tight!

I wear pantyhose outside the house because I have seen too many women's knees when they sit down on the bus and think they are covered but you see they are wearing knee-his. I don't find them at all uncomfortable or tight--maybe your tights are too TIGHT on you--and I wear them with my sneakers as well.

Tights that fit are comfortable! Weekday get more cotton fiber in them and no sense in wearing control top! We only suffer for weddings!

I wear tights because of my veins.
Anything else that cuts into my legs, such as knee hi, makes my veins worse.

I wear cotton tights all the time.

I wear tights when I go out, because I feel more dressed in them, and because I like the control that the control top gives me.

I only wear tights on sabbos and to weddings. (control top) otherwise I use knee his as my tznius check. when I try on a skirt I sit down and if I can see my the top inches of the knee hi where its the elastic material then I dont buy the skirt. I cant stand the feeling of tights and take them off first thing as soon as I get home.

Could I ask a dumb question? Whats the difference between tights and pantyhose? Between socks and knee-his? Is it cotton versus nylon?

no matter how you slice it, not wearing tights is much more provacative than the other way around. You gotta think like a man-- "nothing under that skirt?" I myself have a very difficult time with this because I hate that sense of contriction and the hassle of dealing with pantyhose but it is something I am working on because I feel it is more in accordance with what Hashem wants from us.

Shocked Seriously? A man would not be able to tell the difference if I'm wearing knee highs or tights. (Socks would be obvious, because of the fabric.)

One century ago, yes.
Today most women don't wear tights, so it's nothing provocative. Oh and I think most men assume you wear underwear.

And oy at your idea of "men".

I haven't worn a pair of pantyhose in maybe 20 years and never intend to wear a pair in my life.
I wear skirts down to my shoes. Always. And I wear knee high stockings or thick black socks in the dead of winter with a long slip to keep me warm.
Nothing untznius and the only people who know that I have nothing on my thighs except skin and my panties are my dh and hashem.
I don't think it bothers either of them. I asked the first and he said so and the second hasn't exactly written anywhere that I have to wear tights...

Socks can fall down, and so can thigh hi's. Tights can't. That's my reason at least.

I love the feeling of control top. I always wear tights, even when I'm lazying around at home.

Tights are opaque.
Pantyhose are sheer.
Sock are usually cotton.
Knee highs look like pantyhose or tights, and come in opaque and sheer versions.
