Tzurishaddai is original. Would you give it though? He's mentioned in the Torah as the father of Shimon Shlumiel. I doubt anyone would give the name Shlumiel today.
Yishmael is a nice name and the name of a Kohen Gadol who was killed al kiddush Hashem, but then again, I doubt anyone today would give this name. |
Yes, I would give both. Tzurishaddai probably only as a middle name though. Yishmael I would use as a first name also but it's a little rhymey with our Immanuel so want a few kids in between
Oh, I also love Havakkuk but we're both on the chubby side and if the kid had those sort of tendencies it would too easily become "Have a Cookie"... So yeah, this one will remain a guilty pleasure name! (Mind you, I'm not a huge fan of the name Yissachar as some butcher the pronunciation so that it sounds like "You sucker" but it's in middle name spot and not used and the meaning combo of the names was just too good to not use it). _________________ Specialising in boys since 2006:

"Havakkuk" to "Have a Cookie" That would be funny if you would pronounce the "ch" with an "h".
Do you know anyone with the name Yishmael today? Being that Arabs are Bnei Yishmael, your son might feel quite uncomfortable with such a name. Before giving this name, you should definitely discuss it with your Rov.

I don't care what other people call their kids. If it's a good name I will use it. Arabs are irrelevant for me. Yishmael made teshuva at the end of his life and was a good person. There have been other great Yishmael's in Jewish history too. My husband is my Rav and is all for it

When I was young, I wanted a Chezky and a Rivky - I thought that sounded really cute and frum. _________________ "Often the things you worry about don't happen but other stuff does."
