Which "milk" do you prefer? Which works best for baking/cooking?

personally I like using plain rice milk for cooking. My son drinks soy milk though. I think I like the taste of rice milk better in baking (I jsut used it in blueberry muffins)

Soy milk is the thickest of the three, so when you want the dish to be creamy, use that.
Aside from that (like using soy milk when making Caesar salad dressing) ,I use whatever I have on hand.
I particularly like the almond milk, for it's natural nutritional value.

rice dream has the best taste but it has a watery consistency. I found that the almond and soy have a thicker consistency, soy thickest. Almond has a taste which may change the taste of whatever you are cooking/ baking a bit.

Of my two allergic dc's one prefers soy and the other rice dream.

Soy milk, definitely soy milk, hot and frothy, fresh from our "soy cow," the soy milk machine! Smile Plain, no flavor, and just incredibly, utterly yummy. Only $.60/gallon to make too! Yum.

I prefer soy but dh likes when I use rice milk so thats usually what we do.

soy milk comes in special edition for cooking without sugar, its really good! From alpro soya company

I use unflavored rice milk for cooking. I like vanilla rice milk in my cereal, but there's less waste having one container opened at a time, so I generally just buy the unflavored rice milk.

It depends what I am making. If I am baking with oats (an oatmeal banana bread etc) then I use oat milk to compliment the flavors. Hazelnut milk is fantastic in a chocolate cake. I personally do not like soy milk so I use oat and hazelnut in baking and rice or oat in cooking.

Almond milk is enriched with Vitamin E (50%).

For someone that is not deficient in this vitamin, it could cause harm. That's what happened to me. I started drinking the almond milk, (along with a modified diet) and sooner than later I got a BAD rash on my lower back, stomach, and other aread. It was attributed to the overabundance of vitamin E.

I therefore switched to Coconut milk recently.

I considered soy milk, but heard about some inconclusive detrimental side effects. I couldn't get to the bottom of it, so I rather kept away.

So, what are y'all cooking with this stuff? I never happen to use milk OR milk substitutes in cooking. I have an almost-full container of the rice stuff to use up. Recipe?

Any baking recipe that calls for milk, juice, or other liquid. Like the hersheys cake recipe on the back of the hersheys cocoa container.

I use it in place of coffee creamer in a recipe. Or milk obviously.

I use coconut milk or soy cream. I haven't had good results with anything else.
