Here I was, calmly reading Imamother, holding my sleeping baby and then I heard it - a slight twitching noise to the left and running through the doorway was a real mouse! Shocked

I did what came naturally - stamped my feet and scrambled out of the room! (B''h I didn't drop the baby - I obviously wouldn't - but I wondered on a number of occasions what I would do if I was holding the baby and got a huge fright...) I have never seen mice in my home since we our wedding - a year and some months ago!! ah!! what does it think it's doing here?!?! I'm traumatised and locked in my room now - lets hope it can't come in! Wait till dh hears this! Bounce

I was in such utter shock the first time I saw a mouse I coulnt get the words out to dh. Soooo disgusting.

Hopefully for you it was just a stray mouse. If you live in a rented apt let your landlord know. S/he is by law required to pay for exterminating!

I had an ongoing battle with mice (and frankly, I think some of them were really rats!) for about 2 months. I had my exterminator out repeatedly, etc. However, I found one thing that worked amazingly:

ratzapper

I later discovered the problem was really the result of an infestation in a neighboring house -- but apparently the word got out that my hachnoses orchim didn't extend to rodents!

I am a bit ashamed to admit we get maybe 4-5 mice a year in our house. Usually I wouldnt know about them, except my cats usually think they make good presents (eww)

you can call someone to come close up your holds so no mice can get it. thats what I did as soon as I saw a mouse and bh I havent seen one since and its been a few years

Our exterminator has told us that if you see one then you have at least 50 in your home. Shocked

Sticky traps along the walls... also dont worry the mouse is probably long gone now

buy lots of steel wool.
get dh to move around all furniture and fill ANY cracks with it. use a screw driver to really get it in there!!

get sticky traps and place a few along the wall, under your stove, behind book cases, under your couch.

HATZLACHA!!! I just went through this!!!

im freakin out if you see 1 you have a bunch more like 50?????I cant belive that I had a mouse a last yr. the exterminater put some poisin and we found it dead later what seemed like just 1 to me

I got one, too, and I'm sure it's got mishpacha. Say, I got a great idea! Snakes eat mice, so maybe I should...

We had what must have been dozens and dozens of mice under the house. Once I saw one when I opened the coat closet. It was skittering across the tops of all the jackets by the hangers! We put poison pellets under the house and that was that. Their bodies are small and dry out without smelling. No need to call an exterminator, so it only cost a few dollars.

I don't know if what we had was mice or rats, but apparently it's quite common in newly built areas. They come in from the new sewage and electrical piping as they get displaced from their "natural" habitats. Having someone come tell me this erev Sukkot that year was thrilling, to say the least. But we found where they were coming from (the gas line) and closed it off. We leave a few of the sticky traps in the area, just in case, but we haven't seen one since (3 years). Ptew...

I just solved the mouse problem in my apartment, tried everything!! but these 2 things together worked!
they're a bit on the expensive side, but cheaper then calling in an exterminator!! and really really work!!
it's clean, and extremely effective! but they should be used together!!

I thought I might warn you, that if you plan on getting the rat zapper and you have babies at home, I would suggest you put it in a place they can't reach it, ie: in a cupboard or between something.
