If you want to be downtown there's a youth hostel (clean, not too roomy, no extra amenities, but near everything) at the corner of King George & Rambam; kitty corner to the Prima Kings and behind the Moriah (used to be the Sheraton Plaza). Up the street from the U.S. Embassy & behind the Conservative Yeshiva (their name, not mine). 10 minute walk to town, or through Independence Park.

Marion, the hostel you describe is run by the conservative movement. The Eldan hotel on King David Street is cheap and mehadrin. Supposed to be very comfortable, and right opposite the King David hotel

I don't care who runs the hostel; they're not feeding me and it's clean. AFAIK they're affiliated with the youth hostel association of Israel; the fact that they're located near the Conservative Yeshiva is coincidental.

Would you be interested in a tiny (small studio or 1 bedroom with kitchenette) apartment rented out by the day/week? They have those in Geulah and other neighborhoods. No food served, obviously, though you're near take-out places and can cook your own if you so wish.

Don't be mekabel 'cos it may be LH, but the Tour Operator I work with stopped working with Little House in Rechavia, because it got itself a bad name, for "renting out rooms per hour"

They are part of the Conservative Movement institutions there. It is definitely part of the complex.

There is a nice small hotel on the street parallel to my office, on Shatz, it used to be Hangid hotel but now it is called Montifoire Hotel. I don't think it's very expensive.

We stayed there once before it changed ownership.
It is smack in the center of town and if you come when I'm back from maternity leave you can drop by my office for a shmooze.

Try the Eldan Hotel. You can sometimes get a good deal there. It is clean but some of the rooms are very small. And all the rooms come with a fridge I believe.

What's the name of this place? I have a friend coming to Israel with her daughter for a couple of weeks in December and is looking for something cheap and in the middle of everything...
