I would definitely want a grandkid.

But I hope I wouldn't push...that would be insensitive...Any gesture would be meaningful and probably bring tears to my eyes. What a bracha it would be to have a daughter-in-law like the OP who takes the time to consider this topic!

Make them a marvelous homemade dinner that you "serve" like in a restaurant and maybe buy a special fancy cake for dessert. Then present them with 25 presents, all small except one, for their 25 years of marriage. Have each present have to do with a story that you and your dh know about their lives together, like if they went fishing on a family vacation then get them a plastic fish or something...and the last present has to be something really special like a special tray for lecht bensching or something permanent.

a nice photobook that you do online or by hand would be nice, if you are creative. Include all the milestones - weddings, barmitzvas, babies, vacations etc and make it like a story.

a siddur/tehillim with their names on?

a clock?

some other thing you personolise?

1) If you have kids, each child and grandchild could write one page:
I love you because.... and a few pics of them on that page.

2) A painted family tree with the pasuk "ilan ilan ...."

3) A photo collage. put a picture of them in the middle and randomised pictures of the entire family all around.

4) Take a family photo of all of you (not them) (doesn't have to be a portrait, can be a fun relaxed one especially if you have kids) and enlarge it to a nice size and frame it.

the grankids are just about 2 and 5 months! so they wont quite be writing anything yet lol!

I like the idea of 25 gifts but I would never be able to think of 25 things! the dinner and dessert thing wouldnt work for them. not there thing.

I like the photo idea I think there is a shop near me that does that kinda stuff personalised mugs, clocks, collages. books etc. I should check it out.

anything else? the 2 year old could scribble a pic? !?! lol

If this is their 25th anniversary, they probably have kids at home. A keepsake is a great idea; maybe they'd appreciate a gift certificate for a dinner out.

We did our collage ourselves... its not hard. Put a large pic of them in Colour in the middle (we did a pic of their wedding day) and copy pictures of the family (milestones and day to day) in black and white. stick them on to a big piece of paper the size of the frame. it doesn't have to be proffesional. its a sentimental gift.

or you can put them in black and white and the rest in colour. gives it a good contrast either way.

The photo book idea is always a great one, and takes up less space than a collage if they don't have wall space...DH's grandparents celebrated their 60th anniversary recently, and each kid/kid-in-law, grandkid/grandkid-in-law and great-grandkid got 2 pages in the book to put in pictures of themselves through the years and them with the guests of honor, along with a message saying mazel tov and a favorite memory of them together. The books are pretty easy to put together on Snapfish or another one of those online photo websites (most time-consuming part was scanning all the old pictures into the computer) -- it came out amazing and everyone loved it.

The coffee table photo books are really not that expensive to do.

MyPublisher, Picaboo and Shutterfly all have this service.

What we just did for my parents' latest anniversary (38 years this past December) was buy a digital photo frame and a USB flashdrive. This way we have unlimited photos to show and it can be updated any time we want.

My kids framed a family photo which I love! The kids, my parents & our sibs also made a small party for us with a few close friends. It was all very nice.

The 25th anniversary is called the silver anniversary.
We made a surprise melave malka and bought a silver wine bottle, its 1 present for both.
(Did it for parents & in laws.) Worked out great both times.

For my parents 25th anniversary, we got them a new, silver challah plate with a plexiglass cutting board that fit over it. We had it engraved with something like "On your 25th Anniversary, with love, your children and grandchildren".

My mother's sisters got them a huge challah cover with silver fringe and I think it was also embroidered to commemorate the milestone.

My grandparents got them a new, silver Besamim holder.

And friends of theirs got new Birkonim with covered printed to commemorate the event.

We also had a surprise party for them.

Yesha,

Were the gifts coordinated? They are all similar themed.

Sounds very nice.

Yes, we did coordinate with everyone.

We had the surprise party on Motzei Shabbat. My aunt from Maryland came up for Shabbat and stayed at my grandparents (where we had the party) as a surprise.

None of us called my parents before Shabbat to wish them a happy anniversary or to make plans with them for a Sunday 'thing'... and my mother spent the better part of Shabbat complaining to my father about what a bunch of 'no-goodniks' she'd raised LOL... she changed her tune when she showed up at my grandparents house (presumably my grandparents were going to take my parents out for dinner) and we were all there with balloons and presents and food, and 2 out of 3 sisters (the third lives in Israel)...

Having said all that though... my mother still says the best anniversary presents we ever got them was the one for their 17th anniversary - my sister and I sat up all night going through the shoe boxes full of photos and put some into a huge 16 x 21 collage frame that had been sitting unused behind the couch for years and wrote on the top in marker "Happy 17th Anniversary, Mom and Dad" and on the bottom "Love D1, D2, S1 and S2"; and the digital photo frame we got them for this past anniversary.
