The spelling I'm used to is Bracha.
The only nickname I know of which is actually used on a daily basis even in older girls is Brachi/Brochi (depends on your accent).
But I agree with all the previous posters - who cares, as long as you like the name and you can pronounce it it doesn't really mater. Enjoy your baby.

So, some not so smart friend of mine was telling me when you live out of town-as we do-there are some 'critria for naming childtren.,Of course, she isnt the be all end all of people, but she started making me question the name my husband and I have chosen after his great aunt,
here was her list of criteria-I only am wondering about one and two-the others are stupid imho
1,must have no ch-so people can say it
2.needs cute nickname
3. should ahve meaning-it does
4. should be original-isnt ,but who cares??
5. should sound 'modern'-it doesnt but who cares??
So here are my questions;
any cute nicknames for brocha?

how about English name for legal purpose? what do you do if its dh's choice of names this time and this is what he chose
Anyone outside of very frum circles whom I mentioned this name to,kind of snickered-any thoughts?we arent planning to add a name Help!.......

Aside for #3, have meaning to you, the rest is just ridiculous! Name the name you and your husband want and forget about the rest.

Well, I disagree that there are any "rules," but I do feel like everyone should have a name, one name, that is "pronouncable" in the country they live in. One of my sons is Yosef, and that's exactly what we put on the birth certificate -- not americanized, but certainly pronouncable -- even if the person never saw it before. We've been considering Elchanan as a name, but if I did name a son Elchanan, I would add a middle name that was Hebrew (because I feel very strongly that a child should not have Jewish and a non-Jewish name) but didn't include any sounds that don't exist in English. And I might just put the other name on the birth certificate.

or you could just put eli/ely on the birth certificate. some may pronounce it e-li at first, but that is easily correctable. I have a friend who put Ari on her son Aryeh's birth certificate. My son has 3 names & his birth certificate says simply- Dov (and they still mispronounce it. you can't win. ever.)

I think the spellings for Brocha are hard because brocha-sounds like bro-your bother and cha sounds like the cha cha
same with bracha-even worse on the first half the name
and adding an h just looks confusing
what do you think?
