For those of you who are strict about the laws of tznius for girls starting at 3 years, what do you do for PJs?

I'd like to find nightgowns with longer sleeves, etc. ideally. Is there anyplace that sells such things with various materials (ie. lighter for warmer months) for girls that is reasonably priced? I live OOT, but can get to Monsey sometimes.

do you also only wear nightgowns - no pants at night? you cover your elbow at night? I'm just asking bec I'm curious. also I always find that nightgowns are not as tzinus bec they end up riding up while you sleep.

as far as your question, if you can get to monsey I'm sure the jewish clothing stores have long sleeve nightgowns all year round. I can't say forsure bec I don't own any nightgowns and neither do my dd's and sisters.

Yes, I have tznius PJs that at least when I'm walking around the house I am tznius. I actually wear Tshirts/Skirts that are stretch/comfy and not nice enough for me to wear out of the house (though not in bad condition).

I'm usually under the covers so whatever moves, moves and whatever gets exposed is under the covers. Obviously, it's life that sleeves might expose the elbows, hat might start to slip off, but I do my best and if I notice, then I put them right.

Children's Place. They often have.

I only wear long sleeve night gowns and plan to start that at around three (give or take a few months). Since she will only be wearing it in bed I see no reason to be strict and start earlier (except for the one nightgown that I bought for when she turns three that already fits her Shocked).

I found on Lands End a couple months ago -- they might still have. I got a size 2 and 3 for the future (I figure with our genes she might be 3 when she wears a size 2, and I want a tznius nightgown even if we're not makpid so young for being able to go out of the house like Sukkos or whatever when I like my kids in pjs before seuda).

ebay's not so great either it seems. but I did just go to lands end, and when they do have something on clearance it's reasonable it seems. regular prices are more than I'd want to spend. they are all fleece though, so they must be SOOOO warm, which will good for the colder months of which we have plenty. The warmer months...hm...everything is polyester or fleece!

I have my fleece ones right here in my office (they were delivered and I didn't bother bringing them home to find somewhere to store them Wink) I'll check how warm they are. (They're probably on clearance because it's summer time Smile)

I bought most of my girls' nightgowns in BP, so I am sure they have these things in Monsey, too.

If you would rather find them closer to home, I have seen long-sleeved nightgowns in regular department stores. The ones I saw most recently were Carter's brand.

I also recommend the following website:
http://decentexposures.com/dress.shtml

They sell t-shirt dresses that can be customized with fabric choices, hem lengths, sleeve lengths (long sleeves, 3/4 sleeve etc.), and necklines. They look to me more like nightgowns than dresses, although they have to call them dresses since it is illegal to sell untreated cotton nightgowns for children because of fire safety (silly, IMO). The 100% cotton ones with 3/4 sleeves and a crew or jewel neckline (which might or might not be high enough for you depending on how particular you are about that) would be great for Summer. The velour ones would be better for Winter.

I have purchased from them before and I found their sizes ran really big. I also asked them to make the necklines a bit higher than their regular pattern. If you know what length you need, you can ask them which size would be best or request that specific length, since these are custom sewn. The prices aren't the cheapest, but it is good quality. I ordered from them once as a member of a co-op group, so it was much cheaper. If anyone wants to set up a co-op we might be able to that here, too. They have nice skirts, too.

HY,

What do you intend to do about your daughter and wearing swimsuits at camp? I am a bit worried about that after seeing how the backyard camps take the girls swimming outside in full view of the public wearing swimsuits.

I haven't thought that far ahead, honestly! (My husband thinks I'm a nut for already trying to make Pesach plans, and he's telling me I should concentrate on only the long term, and we should think about what we're doing next Pesach instead Confused So yeah, I can't really have a discussion about 2 years from now. We might not even live here.)You could probably just get a long t-shirt that is like a dress on her, and use that. I've seen people do that. Where I come from, the pool isn't on premises, so the boys have their hours and the girls have theirs at a private pool (not a backyard fill up one).
