Plain white flour elbow macaroni has in it carbs, dietary fiber, protein, iron, calcium, selenium, etc.
Plain white rice contains carbs, protein, calcium, iron, manganese.
Plain white potato contains carbs, dietary fiber, protein, vitamin a, vitamin c, calcium, iron, vitamin b6, potassium.
None of those are EMPTY calories, as you can see. |
I don't get it are you really trying to convince people that WHITE rice and pasta is healthy? Healthier then chicken? | Trying to convince people that its not just the "glue" some people make it out to be. |
Yeah but its pretty bad. I marvel at the kids that eat chocolate white bread sandwiches for a meal and fill the rest of their day with junk. I wonder how is that they grow.

Brown rice doesn't cost much more then white rice. Whole wheat pasta costs more so I use it maybe once a week. I'd rather spend the money on fresh produce- veggies and animal protein.
The only way I can even remotely see white pasta being "healthy" is if you make it yourself. Anything that cooks in 5 minutes by boiling it in water is so stripped of anything you might as well be eating glue.

but I do disagree here in Israel it does cost more for "whole" products.

Obesity is skyrocketing in India, at least amongst people who can afford to eat. Not all Hindus are vegetarian (I know many who are not) and even vegetarians eat dairy products. Buffalo milk is favored, which is higher fat than cows' milk, and ghee (clarified butter) is traditionally the preferred fat. On top of that there are all the deep fried snacks, the richer curries if you can afford them (with cream, butter, and almonds, or coconut milk in the south)... Indian food can be extremely fattening. British Asians have very high rates of Type 2 diabetes.
Seraph, flour is 8-14% gluten, not 50%.
