| |
I recently got a bunch of kiki riki shells, a few of them white, and when I wanted to watch them I noticed the label says no bleaching! What the heck? How else am I supposed to clean them? Anyone bleached them and they came out ok? Also here in Israel I can't find non-chlorine bleach. Anyone use non-chlorine bleach and it was ok?
Thanks!

| I've used Oxi Clean on them and they came out perfectly white. I never use bleach as I have a fear of accidentally bleaching clothes or stuff around the house if it spills or splashes.

| Oh well. One of my DD white kiki riki's got mixed up in the dark laundry and came out grey. Since I had no need for a grey shirt I soaked the shirt in a diluted solution of bleach and then washed it. Came out perfect.

Bleach damages the fabric.
Use non-chlorine bleach (Vanish Oxy Action, etc), dillute in warm water, let it soak. It will come out whiter than white (if it's really dirty you might want to repeat it several times).
If you want your shells to stay as they are, wash them by hand... Mix detergent in warm water, insert shell... Wash it, let it soak for a nice time, wash again, rinse, hang to dry. That's how they last the longest time and stay in "shape".

| Are these good quality shells? Are they fitted through the abdomen? Are they cotton or a fancier material?

| They're great quality, completely fitted and would be described as 'tight' (if you're incomfortable with that, buy a size up from what you usually wear and it'll fit you probably like a 'linda liel' would), and are mostly cotton.

I use Oxyclean with hot water. Bleach eventually destroys clothes and also causes the clothes to turn a bit yellow.
DD's kikriki got a little hole near the elbow, normal wear AFAIK. Anyone else have this problem?

| Yes, my Kiki Rikki's always get holes by the elbows after a while. I love these shells and the way they look, so I just keep buying more when they get a hole (I know, so wasteful).
