Anyone ever stay over night along the way to montreal. We want to travel about 3 hours, stay over and travel the rest. That would put us around Albany for the night. Has anyone ever stayed in the surounding area and knows a better city to stop nearby. We don't want to spend a lot but want a decent place.

Also, any ideas of what to do along the way (traveling to/from NJ, NY). We've taken the Vermont ferry in the past but want to do something closer to home this time.

Go to lake George! Stop in any hotel there, they're all beautiful! Enjoy. Whenever we go, we try to stop in another exit so that one day we will accumulate memories of each one!

Thanks Shaklee Mom. So far our memories haven't been so great. We roll in at about 12 roll out at about 7. And normally stay in the dumpiest place. But last time was reaaaaaaaaaaaally bad. So I'm trying to do a bit better this time. (last time I hotwired the cheapest thing I found and it was about $35 a night. The room was suprisingly clean and nice. However you could smell some strong smelling stuff in the hall ways and it was not cigarettes and the place was scary - so not again!)

In case anyone is interested we just used the coupon book you pick up in rest stops and got a room for more then 1/2 off what they were asking in Glens Falls. It was cheaper then any deals we saw online. there was a ton to do in the area and it was gorgeous (unfortunetly we didn't have too much time).

Shaklee Mom, we did accumalate a new memory at the rest area between exits 18 and 17 on the thruway. Both kids had huge diapers that leaked through all layers of clothing onto their carseat and down their legs - at 9:00 at night. That made for a funny memory - even at the moment it was happening.
