Someone I know has 2 bedrooms, so really the two siblings can sleep seperately, but the girl and boy are in their mid-high teens and they sleep in the same room. Rolling Eyes Puke

I separated my kids when my older one (girl) was 6. We b"h were able to do that, but our Rav did tell us we could keep them together until she was 9. I am not sure how the dynamics will work as my younger ones get older.

I would think it should be fine until one of them gets uncomfortable with it. I mean, we're talking about siblings here, not strangers! I can't see how there could be a halachic problem at any age- unless the girl wants to sleep in "not tznius pajamas" and doesn't want her brother seeing her in her nightclothes. It's really not that hard to change clothes in the bathroom, or to lock the door while changing.

Didn't people used to live in 1 room homes, where the entire family plus guests all slept in the same room? Is there a difference, halachically, because there are adult chaperones present?

Most things that are issues to us today are things that were taken fro granted in older generations. Not everyone has the luxery of having enough space. There is no set answer each family does what is best for them.
