The whole thing. That's why I can't do sefer tehillim. Shir hashirim and perek shira are not that long.
Speaking of segulos, it is also a segulah to daven at the kosel for 40 days in a row. There is an organization that one can pay to do this if one is not able to. _________________ If you try to help others, you too will feel better - Wise old goat

| Mitzvah Giraffe, IIRC the Artscroll siddur says not to say the tefilla on Shabbos, which implies that the parsha itself can be said.

Both Shir Hashirim and Perek Shira can be said on Shabbos. Which tefilla are you referring to?
Regarding Perek Shirah, I read (don't remember where) that it's best to say it early in the morning.

Interesting. I was under the impression that one should not be davening for parnassah on shabbos. I guess I just assumed that we should not be saying parshas haman, and I took the instructions from the artscroll siddur as confirmation. Obviously it's not forbidden to say parshas haman on shabbos because it's read in shul during laining when parshas haman is in the parsha. I wonder if parshas haman really can be said on shabbos for parnassah. I will have to find out. It still seems kind of inappropriate to me.
On the other hand, maybe I should be saying parshas haman on shabbos also, and I'm doing it wrong???

Willow, yes you may say it in English. Hashem understands all languages, and listens to every prayer that comes from the heart.
You may pray for as many things as you need.. It doesn't have to be one specific thing.
Hashem can handle all the problems from the entire world, just as easily as He could handle one specific problem from a single human being.. Remember He is a merciful and generous G-D, so ask away!!
May Hashem answer to everyone's prayers letovah/for the best, Amein!

Mitzvah Giraffe (BTW, are you related to the author? That book, all 3 copies, gets nice traffic in our school library , unless you are specifically saying it for 40 days for some reason there is no way you are doing it wrong. If you have inclinations not to say it on Shabbos, don't. I don't think such sensitivies are incorrect or inappropriate; they're coming from a very pure part of you.

| So if you want to say Shir Hashirim for shidduchim for a couple of people, can you say it one time (40 day cycle) or do you have to say it separately for each person? I know that if you say it for someone you will be helped in that way also.

I was always so curious, what is the mekor of this "segula"?
I have heard that the best segula is to keep Torah uMitzvos!
(I am aware that some segulos have their mekor in big gedolim, so relying on it is emunas chachamim...)

I am not related to the author the book, but we really like it here.
I looked again at tefillos.com and it says that you CAN say parshas hamon on shabbos, but you shouldn't say the tefillos before and after on shabbos. I will start doing that. Thanks a million.

Most religious Jews do keep Torah and Mitzvos but would still sometimes be in need of segulos to help for certain yeshuos, refuos or whatever.

I just hung up the phone with a very Chashuv Rav/Dayan.
Between the questions that I asked him, I also asked him about the Shir Hashirim & Perek Shira.. He answered that you can mention as many names as you wish, for whatever different yeshuas needed.
The only time suggested to say for a single individual exclusively is when one is part of a group that undertook to say for someone in particular. At that point you do not say other names.

I've heard about reading the following for 40 days:
Nishmat Kol Chai
Perek Shira
shir hashirim
are these readings interchangable? Or do each of them have a particular tikkun/function?
I have started reading Nishmat Kol Chai, but I miss days so I have yet to complete a full 40 day period.

The first time I said Shir Hashirim I said it sometimes at shacharis, sometimes, mincha, sometimes maariv; nothing doing.
The second time I said it at mincha (at the kotel) every day for 40 days. That was hard but I met my DH just a few weeks later. _________________ Let your fellow's honor be as dear to you as your own and do not anger easily (Pirkei Avos/t)
