I have made the news in Eretz Yisrael section readable only by registered members.

Threads about israel, even on anti-semitism elsewhere arising b/c of the situation in Israel, may be posted there in privacy.
The regular In the News section, this one, will remain readable by the public.

It's just like reading or responding to threads in emotional health or shalom bayit--unless you're signed in you won't see the threads, and you have to sign in to read or respond. So not like a specific forum, just like the many users-only forums already around.

I think it's because there have been heated debates on this forum, and some posters felt uncomfortable with those debates being visible to anyone online.

why does it have to be secret? is there something the non jews don't know? are we ashamed of our opinions?

I don't think it has to do with being ashamed of our opinions but that it's better that non jews see a united front on these issues. Thank you Yael & well done!

Thank you, Yael. Good idea. Not long ago I remember reading a thread without signing in and was quite surprised about it. I don't remember which one it was. Perhaps the Mods should go through those "open for the public thread" daily.

It might save time if posters would be careful about where we post. The problem is that if you usually browse the board logged in, it's not easy to remember what is public and what is private (except for the obvious ones). Perhaps the screen that you get after you click "Add reply" could have a notice warning you if you are posting on a public forum that can be read by anyone on the internet. (Or perhaps it should be earlier since that wouldn't help posters who use "quick reply."
