Few Jewish books I see at the Jewish library seem very good. Not that most modern books are good by the non jews either, but I would expect more sechel and imagination by the yidden.

There are a few new books out, With this ring-by Chaya Kisner, Shadows and Light-by Rochel Schorr (I think) and Innocent Deceptions by Sara Hirsh. They were all ok, but being the critic I am, I have criticism about all three

I read the rochel schorr book I thought it was very good and innocent deceptions I kind of came away like thats alot of issues in one book and interesting how everything turned out, I don't know if I would of bougt it but dh suprised me wiht anew book straight off the press! Very Happy

Another vote for Sun Inside Rain -- the rarest of all things: a well-written frummie romantic novel.

I just tried to join Mama Bear's yahoo group so I can download her novel, but not sure whether I succeeded.

At the risk of sounding a bit frumpy and old fashioned, I wanted to recommend the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder... certainly not new, but any mother/housewife who reads it will be amazed at how the family made a home and survived as American Pioneers.

Also, amazing is how well educated the children were in the 1-room schoolhouse setting.

I have been rereading the series recently (which I read as a child) and am totally enjoying them.

OK, back to the regularly scheduled program of NEW book titles.

Wow Half Pint! Next thing you'll be weaving your own straw hats and pickling your watermelon rinds, too. Just watch out for Nellie Oleson. : )

I just read The Lost Daughter by Esther Heller and while I wouldn't say it was perfect it was unusually well written and definitely not the regular frum novel.
